Delete your account

How to request deletion

Email [email protected]from the email address on your LocalArena account with the subject “Delete my account”. So we can find and verify your account, include the email or name you use in the app. To protect your account, we'll confirm the request with you before we act on it.

We're building a way to delete your account directly in the app — when that's available you'll find it in your profile settings, and this page will be updated with the steps.

What gets deleted

We delete or anonymise the personal data that identifies you — including your name, email address, profile photo, and the sports and details on your profile — so you can no longer be identified from it. Once your account is deleted you won't be able to sign back in, and your profile will no longer appear to other members.

What we keep, and why

We keep a small amount of data where we're legally required to or have a genuine need — for example records of payments for tax and accounting, and information needed to handle a safety report or dispute. We keep this only for as long as necessary, and it's held in a form that no longer identifies you wherever possible. Some content you shared in a group may remain visible in an anonymised form (for example, shown as a removed member) so the group's history still makes sense.

If you organise a group

If you run a group, we'll help make sure its members aren't left stranded before your account is removed — by transferring the group to another organiser, or winding it down. Get in touch and we'll sort this out with you as part of your request.

How long it takes

Once we've confirmed your request, we'll action it promptly — normally within 30 days. It can take a little longer for your data to be fully cleared from our backups, which are deleted on a rolling cycle.
