These terms are the agreement between you and LocalArena for using our app and website. By creating an account or using LocalArena, you agree to them — so please read them. They sit alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data.
Who can use LocalArena
You need to be at least 13 years old to have a LocalArena account, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. Individual groups and sessions may set their own age or eligibility requirements, and it's up to you to meet them. You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for everything that happens under it.
What LocalArena is
LocalArena is a platform that connects you with local sports groups and pickup sessions, and gives organisers the tools to run them — schedules, attendance, rotas, and payments. The groups, sessions, and events are organised by their organisers, not by us. We're not the organiser of any session and we don't run, supervise, or take part in the activities you find through the app.
Joining and playing
When you join a session you're agreeing to take part on the organiser's terms. Sport carries risk — you take part at your own risk and are responsible for making sure an activity is suitable for you. Always follow the organiser's instructions and any venue rules, and use your own judgement about your health and safety.
Payments and fees
Some groups, sessions, and tournaments charge a fee. Payments are handled securely by Stripe, and the fee is set by the organiser. Unless we say otherwise, the agreement to attend a paid session is between you and the organiser, so refunds and cancellations are handled according to that organiser's policy. Where LocalArena charges its own platform or service fees, we'll make those clear before you pay.
If you organise a group
Organisers are responsible for the groups and sessions they run — including accurate listings, looking after their members, handling their own fees and refunds, and following any laws that apply to running sporting activities (such as safeguarding and insurance). If you collect payments, you're responsible for delivering what people paid for.
Acceptable use
Be decent to other people. You agree not to use LocalArena to harass, abuse, threaten, or discriminate against anyone; to post unlawful, misleading, or harmful content; to impersonate others; or to misuse, disrupt, or attempt to break the service. We use automated checks and a moderation team to help keep the community safe, and you can report anything that doesn't belong.
Content you post
You keep ownership of the content you add — your profile, photos, group details, and messages. By posting it, you give us permission to host and display it so we can run the service. You're responsible for making sure you have the right to share what you post, and that it doesn't break these terms or anyone else's rights.
Suspending or ending accounts
You can stop using LocalArena and delete your account at any time — see our account deletion page. We may suspend or remove access if you break these terms, or where we need to protect our users or the service. We'll act proportionately and, where we reasonably can, let you know why.
Availability and changes
We work to keep LocalArena running well, but we provide it “as is” and can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features as the app develops.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, because the activities you find through LocalArena are run by organisers and not by us, we're not responsible for what happens at a session, for an organiser's acts or omissions, or for disputes between members and organisers. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or unforeseen losses.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. If you keep using LocalArena after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
